Daniel J. Buysse, MD

Dr. Buysse is Past President of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and is Associate Editor of the journals SLEEP, Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, and Behavioral Sleep Medicine. He has served on several initial review groups and advisory committees at the National Institutes of Health, and is currently the Chair of the NIH MESH Scientific Review Study Section.
His research focuses on the diagnosis, assessment, pathophysiology, and treatment of insomnia. Dr. Buysse has received research funding from the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Institute on Aging, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, and the National Center on Research Resources. Dr. Buysse has published over 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 82 book chapters or review articles.
Charles M. Morin, Ph.D.

Dr. Morin is past President of the Canadian Sleep Society. He currently holds a Canada Research Chair on Sleep Disorders. He is a member of the DSM-V workgroup to revise diagnostic criteria of sleep disorders. He is Associate Editor for the journals SLEEP and Behavioral Sleep Medicine and is on the editorial board of several other journals including Sleep Medicine and Sleep Medicine Reviews. He has published four books and 160 articles and chapters on the epidemiology and treatment of insomnia.
His main contributions have been in the development, validation, and dissemination of psychological and behavioral approaches for treating insomnia. His research is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
Judith A. Owens MD, MPH

Dr. Owens is board certified in Pediatrics, Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics and Sleep Medicine. She is the Associate Editor of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, and Co-Chair Planning Committee, International Pediatric Sleep Medicine Conference 2005-09,
Dr. Owens has served as Chair, Pediatric Section of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (2002-5, 2006-7).
Dr. Owens’ research interests include the neurobehavioral impact of sleep in children, cross-cultural aspects of sleep, behavioral and pharmacologic management of pediatric insomnia, sleep and fatigue in medical training. She is the author of over 100 original research and review articles and three books. She also has a particular focus on sleep education at the professional (medical school, post-graduate, continuing education) and public levels and received the AASM Excellence in Education Award in 2006.

Professor Vitiello is Past-President of the Sleep Research Society, Editor-in-Chief (for the Americas) of Sleep Medicine Reviews, a member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society and of Sleep Medicine, and a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America.
His NIH funded research focuses on the causes, consequences and treatments of disturbed sleep, circadian rhythms and cognition in older adults.
Ryan G. Wetzler, Psy.D., C.BSM

Dr. Wetzler is a licensed psychologist and certified behavioral sleep medicine specialist who is engaged in the full-time clinical practice of BSM. Dr. Wetzler serves as Chair of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Behavioral Sleep Medicine course. He is the President of the Kentucky Sleep Society, and holds an academic appointment with the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
Over the past 6-years, he developed, integrated, and evaluated a behavioral sleep medicine program within an independent sleep disorders center. This health insurance based program has been found to be clinically effective as well as financially sustainable using existing behavioral health CPT codes.
