Presentation:  Insomnia Disorder in the Primary Care Setting:  Assessment and Treatment on the Front Line

speaker: christi ulmer, phd

Dr. Ulmer is a clinical research psychologist at the Durham VA Medical Center and Assistant Professor at Duke University School of Medicine. She completed a Behavioral Medicine internship at the Palo Alto VA and post-doctoral research training in Behavioral Sleep Medicine at the Durham VA. She is a Diplomate in Behavioral Sleep Medicine and has been providing Behavioral Sleep Medicine clinical services at the Durham VA for the past 12 years. Dr. Ulmer serves as a consultant on the VA Dissemination of training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia

.Dr.Pigeon is a clinical psychologist, the Director of the VA Center of Excellence for Suicide Prevention in Canandaigua, NY and Professor of Psychiatry and Public Health Sciences at the
University of Rochester Medical Center where he directs a Sleep & Neurophysiology Research Lab and an Insomnia Clinic.  He completed both an internship and postdoctoral fellowship in Behavioral Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School.  He has received funding from the NIH, DOD, the VA, foundations and industry sources to develop or test clinical interventions for sleep problems that present in a variety of clinical settings including in primary care and in comorbid patient populations such as thoses with PTSD, chronic pain and/or suicidal ideation.  Dr Pigeon has trained clinicians in behavioral sleep medicine interventions locally and nationally including serving on the team that developed VA's CBT for insomnia training program.
