2021 Awards Nominations

The Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine is a society of members who are passionate about sleep health - dedicated to improving it through clinical work, expanding understanding through research, raising awareness among the public through education, and informing local, regional and national policy through advocacy.

Our members deserve to be recognized. Such was the reasoning behind the SBSM Membership Committee’s efforts to expand the number of annual awards. With 9 newly proposed categories and three revised categories recently approved by the Board of Directors, the number of awards given out annually now totals 12. These new awards offer exciting opportunities to recognize and acclaim those members of our organization who work hard to fulfill its manifold mission.

The new awards allow for separate recognition of students, interns and fellows, as well as professionals who are in the early, middle or late stages of their career. Categories now include multiple awards for clinicians as well as researchers. Separate categories commend members who promote diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice in clinical practice or research endeavors, and those members who move the field of behavioral sleep medicine forward through education and advocacy efforts.

All of the hard work put in by the extraordinary members of our organization deserves recognition, and we now have the means to do so. We welcome all of you to nominate members you know, or yourselves, for one of our newly created awards!

The nomination and application process is now open. Act today to recognize your colleagues! Nominations due by June 15, 2021.

Recipients for all awards will be presented during a pending awards and recognition event in September. Award recipients will be notified by July 15, 2021.

Please contact Kathryn Hansen (kathryn@behavioralsleep.org) with any questions regarding these awards.
