Guest Expert:


Ariel Neikrug, PhD is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of California Irvine and the director of the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program at the UCI Sleep Center.  He received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the SanNeikrug pic.docx

Diego State University and University of California, San Diego Joint Doctoral 

Program in Clinical Psychology under the mentorship of Dr. Sonia Ancoli-Israel and completed his clinical internship at Rush University Medical Center with Dr. Jason Ong.


He completed a clinical post-doctoral training at the Utah VA and a research postdoctoral fellowship in pain research at the Department of Anesthesia at the University of Utah. Dr. Neikrug’s core clinical and research interests are in the development and evaluation of behavioral and lifestyle interventions designed to improve health and avoid disease. His current NIH-funded research evaluates the interaction between sleep and fitness with their impact on health and cardiovascular disease risk in children and adolescents. His research programs aim to better elucidate the sleep-related mechanisms in the development of disease and the ability of behavioral sleep interventions to influence disease trajectories.
